I recently put together a summer capsule wardrobe, which involved packing away 75% of my closet and committing to only wear the items in my capsule for 30 days. Today I’m sharing an update on what I wore during week three, so you can get a sense of how this whole thing works. You can also catch up on what I wore during week one (here) and week two (here). As a reminder, here’s everything that’s in my capsule (some of my actual items vary slightly). I have a total of 38 items in my summer capsule, and for the third week, I wore 20 of the items. After getting through the third week, there are still six items I’ve yet to wear. The simplicity of the capsule has been great, and yet I’ve been challenged to be creative about my combinations, which is fun.
Week 3 also involved a couple days where I had to switch up my outfits for different events, as well as a weekend of travel to California. I tend to pack light when I travel (I had all of my things in a backpack), but having less to choose from made the packing process a breeze.
So here’s a look at Week 3…
Summer Capsule Wardrobe – Week 3
Day 1Activities: Speaking at church, hanging in the park with friends.
Wearing: Swing top (similar), white jeans, huaraches, and gold necklace (similar).
Day 2Activities: Meetings and working in the office.
Wearing: Crocheted tank top (similar, also similar), mom jeans, and these sandals.
Day 3Activities: Meetings in the office, hosting people for dinner. *My laughing face is all about Jameson acting like a crazy man, jumping on a laundry pile just off camera.*
Wearing: Gray t-shirt, black high-rise jeans, sneakers, glasses (purchased in Austin from Stag Provisions for Men), necklace from Forever 21 (old), and bracelets from India.
Day 4Activities: I wore two outfits this day — the first was during the day to run errands and work, and the second was to attend a party in Brooklyn to celebrate the anniversary of an awesome company my dear friend started seven year ago.
Wearing: Gray swing dress, white sneakers, Forever 21 necklace (old), Striped romper, sandals from a boutique in Jamaica.
Day 5Activities: I took Jameson to a children’s jazz concert in the park, had lunch at Shake Shack, and prepped for traveling the next day.
Wearing: Light-gray tank top, black joggers (similar), these sneakers, Banana Republic necklace (old)
Day 6Activities: I wore two outfits on this day also — the first to fly from NYC to L.A., and the second to attend an outdoor wedding that Jordan officiated. I don’t always wear sandals to weddings, but when they are outdoors or when I plan to do a lot of dancing, nothing beats them (also makes for a much lighter suitcase). Also, this photo doesn’t really show the wedding make-up and hair, which definitely dressed the whole thing up.
Wearing: Cardigan (similar), white t-shirt (similar), mom jeans, white sneakers, Madewell tassle necklace (old), maxi dress from boutique in Jamaica, sandals from boutique in Jamaica
Day 7Activities: Driving from L.A. to Ventura, California. Hanging by the hotel pool.
Wearing: Shirt from Anthropologie (old), distressed denim shorts (sold out, similar), white sneakers.
And that’s Week 3! Just one more week and a couple days to go. Any questions about the capsule process or items in the photos above? What are the things you’re wearing a lot this summer?

July 13, 2017 at 11:26 pmThanks! White jeans are awesome, but mine definitely need a wash after every wear, especially with a toddler. :-)
