It’s Friday and fall is in full effect. It’s looking gorgeous in New York City right now, and warmer days have made it even easier to enjoy. Here’s this week’s round up of things that made the last seven days memorable. I’m hoping these meaningful moments might inspire us to live better stories.
This week, Conan O’Brien has been shooting his show at the famous Apollo Theater here in Harlem, and we have a handful of lucky friends who scored tickets. Though I wasn’t able to go, this video of Conan walking around the neighborhood is the best thing on the internet right now (I’ve watched it three times). There are a few spots from our neighborhood, and I love the straight-talking, entrepreneurial spirit that shines through. Makes me grateful to live in this special place. And seriously, Conan is a straight up fool.
Speaking of TV, if you’re looking for something new and good to watch, 7 Fall Shows You Should Be Watching — And How To Catch Up, is pretty helpful. I’m planning to get into This Is Us and Insecure.I made a beef and butternut squash stew for some friends with a new baby. I used a slightly different recipe, but this one looks just as delicious. I’m all about eating as much butternut squash as possible while it’s in season.
I’m so happy that by the time I write next week’s Mixtape post, this never-ending, oh so painful election season will be over! Please make time to vote, and please get to know where candidates outside of the presidential race stand. This site, Ballot Ready, is a great resource for seeing who’s running where you live. And this site will help you find your polling place.
And finally, a good quote…
