Friends, I am very happy that Friday is upon us. I hope you are too and have some good things planned for the weekend, whether that takes you out and about or lets you stay quiet at home. Here are a few things from the week I wanted to share.
Wednesday was my late husband Jarronn’s birthday, so I spent a lot of time this week thinking about him, reliving old memories, laughing at things he’d written on Facebook, and reflecting on how glad I am that he was born 37 years ago. He taught me so much, and this post from my old blog, written on his birthday in 2010 (the first birthday after he’d passed) was a great reminder of that. It’s a great reminder about the fragility of life.
Also on Wednesday, I went to the Google office to have lunch with friend who works there. No matter how many times I visit, I thank the good Lord above for brilliant friends who get me access to a place with free lunch and some of the best views in the city. When my friend had to head to a meeting, I seriously considered pretending to leave and then finding a place to hang out in the office for the rest of the day. Hey Google — call me, maybe?
Apparently, this song is one that all babies will love.
And meanwhile, this song from the winners of NPR’s 2017 Tiny Desk Contest makes me long for more musical talent. P.S. Whenever I watch one Tiny Desk video, I’m guaranteed to get sucked in and watch at least three more. So good.
Finally, I’ve definitely got Cuba on the brain, mainly because it seems 75 percent of people I know have been there in the last six weeks. Ok, slightly an exaggeration, but it’s a lot of people. It’s long been on my list of places I want to visit (my maternal grandmother was born there). In addition to all of the recaps from friends, these links are providing inspiration: beautiful photos and ways to support Cubans vs. the Cuban government.
Enjoy the weekend!
