We’ve made it to Friday! Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there (check out this gift guide if you need a last-minute gift), and here are a few things worth sharing as we head into the weekend…

This past week has been filled with doing fun things around the city. Over the weekend, we celebrated a friend’s birthday party at the free salsa dance party held at Pier One as part of Summer on the Hudson. We had such a great time being by the water, and even Jameson got in on the dancing. If you’re in NYC, they’ll do it again during the remaining Sundays in June, and you should definitely check it out.(The birthday boy, Francisco, and his wife Courtney were killin’ the dance floor.)We had family friends in town from North Carolina for the weekend, so we took them on the Circle Line’s Harbor Lights Cruise. If you’ve never been on a sail or ferry cruise around the city, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s one of the best ways to see the city, in my opinion. And then on Thursday night, my mom and I went to hear the New York Philharmonic’s free concert in Central Park. Us and 50,000 other people. It was packed, but such a good vibe as we sat on our blanket, listened to the music, caught up, and noshed on our picnic dinner. Now what may have made that picnic dinner so tasty for me was the fact that it came at the end of a five-day juice/smoothie cleanse I’d started on Saturday. If you’re interested in something like this for the purpose of curbing certain cravings, losing weight, or otherwise, I purchased all of my drinks from Jus by Julie. They have pre-set cleanses that they deliver by mail, and you follow the schedule of six drinks per day. If you’re interested, check out their Groupon — but note that the shipping cost is a bit hefty, so factor that in too.

And finally, two other things worth sharing:

One of my favorite podcasts is back out after being on break since last year — Invisibilia. The first two episodes about emotions gave me lots to think about.

There’s an album that’s been out for a couple years but is new to me, and I’ve had it on heavy rotation — Simple Gospel (Live) by United Pursuit. The tracks “Simple Gospel” and “Since Your Love” pretty much get me every.time. (h/t to JD for the recommendation!)

What are your plans for the weekend?

I plan to deep clean my home and prepare for the remaining restoration projects that need to be completed. Doesn’t sound too exciting, but I’m looking forward to a chill weekend. LOL!

A weekend spent cleaning and tackling projects actually sounds pretty sweet. My husband doesn’t see how I find that kind of thing relaxing, but I love the feeling of accomplishment and peace it brings.
