This past weekend, my mom and cousin Maria had plans to attend a wedding in Baltimore, and when I found out their hotel room came equipped with a pull-out couch and my calendar was free, I decided it only made sense for me and Jameson to tag along to take advantage of the free ride and accommodations. I figured I’d enjoy the time with my mom and cousin, and while they participated in wedding festivities, I’d catch up with friends in D.C.
The ride down was somewhat rough, since Jameson pretty much despises his car seat these days. I try to sit in the back seat with him to comfort him, but it seems to make him more upset when he sees me — as though he’s looking at me and wondering, “If you’re sitting so close, why on earth aren’t you holding meeee?!”
When we finally made it to Baltimore, we were all pretty wiped out. We got Jameson to bed, ordered room service, and settled in. I was eager to get to sleep for two reasons: 1) I knew Jameson would wake up sometime around 6 a.m., and 2) I had important plans to have breakfast at Blue Moon Cafe. More specifically, I was plotting on having a plate of their delicious, amazing, famous Captain Crunch French Toast.
Maria, Jameson, and I made it out around 9 a.m. the next morning and walked over to Blue Moon Cafe from our hotel. It was great to take Jameson past Pazo, the restaurant where Jordan and I got married. I smiled thinking about us posing for photos on the street after the ceremony.
When we got the Blue Moon Cafe, the wait for a table was already long, so we put our name on the list and walked around the nearby farmer’s market and grabbed a cup of Zeke’s coffee, which the nice folks at Blue Moon provide as you wait.
When our name was called, it was almost like our names had been announced at an awards ceremony or something. And when the moment arrived to have french toast, it. was. magical.
And making things even better was the fact that Jameson was super cute and a hit among the waitstaff and customers. But can we really blame anyone for loving this little guy?
After breakfast, I drove my mom’s car down to D.C. to catch up with a few friends. As much as I love NYC, there’s something so familiar and easy about being back in D.C., which I don’t necessarily long for, but really appreciate. And as much as I love all of the people I’ve gotten to meet in NYC, I love how I can so quickly pick up where I just left off with my friends of the past 15 years when I’m in D.C.
On our last day in Baltimore, we had lunch with my cousins from California, which was a special treat, since we only see them every few years.

February 28, 2017 at 3:43 pmMe and my friends get together every Sunday and watch football on 4 flat screens (on one wall)at my friends house. We all bring a dish and booze to share. We’ve named our “event” Sideways Sundays. The food varies from week to week but anything in the crockpot is always a hit, same for my desserts-I usually do cupcakes.
