The Mixtape // 09.29.17

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’ve got some good plans on deck for the weekend. Though it hardly feels like fall, we’re planning to do some apple and pumpkin picking, and I can already imagine Jameson trying to take a bite of all the apples. Before I get this weekend party started, here are some things from the week worth sharing…

We made a quick trip to Chicago this week where Jordan had a work commitment. We had just enough time to explore downtown Chicago for a few hours on Tuesday afternoon before heading back to NYC. We took in The Bean in Millennium Park and a delicious meal of Mexican tortas and guacamole at XOCO. We also had the obligatory Chicago-style pizza (although Jameson not feeling his best meant we made it to a nearby Giordano’s instead of Lou Malnati’s). I randomly (and serendipitously) stumbled across the new album, Freudian, from a guy named Daniel Caesar, and we’ve had it on heavy rotation over here. If nothing else, download the songs “Best Part” and “We Find Love” and get all these music vibes.

I can’t get enough of the Humans of New York blog, and this recent post had my eyes stinging as I shook my head and said, “no you won’t make me cry!”

abc kitchen has been on my list of restaurants to check out since before I lived in NYC, and last week I finally made it there for lunch with a girl friend. If you’re looking for good food and top notch decór, check it out.

Also on the topic of food, I’m basically obsessed with these (in ANY flavor) and fight not to eat two every day, not because that’s excessive but because it’s not in my budget. Smh.A couple weeks ago, Jordan preached this sermon about loving people who are different from us, and it’s still resounding in my head — particularly in light of all that’s going on in our world today.

And speaking of things going on in our world, I thought this article “Colin Kaepernick vs. Tim Tebow: A tale of two Christians on their knees” was really worth reading.
